Today’s photo is another from San Diego.  As we departed on our fishing trip I shot this HDR image from the back of the boat.  The horizon is centered which is supposed to be a no-no, but I like the contrast between the drama of the clouds and the wake from the boat on the water.  Sony NEX-5N, SEL16mm, f/6.3

I’ve probably said it before, but Venice is such a magnificent city to visit and photograph.  Every view you see of the city is just an iconic representation of Venice.  Today’s photo was taken from the bridge next to our hotel.  I actually remember looking down this canal from the other direction on our previous trip to Venice; so when we booked this hotel, I already had my bearings of where we were at.  Trust me, Venice is a city you can easily get lost in – then again, that’s a big part of the appeal.

Edited in Nik Color Efex Pro 4 to increase the saturation and bring out some detail.  Sony NEX-5N, SEL16mm with VCL-ECF1, 1/125, f/4.0, ISO 100

Today’s photo is from Venice.  We hired a water taxi to take us back to the train station and instead of going back through the Grand Canal, the driver went out to the open waters between the city and the mainland.  It was nice to get a different perspective of the city.  This is apparently a streetlamp that we passed by.  Sony NEX-5N, Sigma 60mm, 1/3200 f/2.8, ISO 100

Today’s photo is another from this past weekend in Pismo Beach.  I placed my tripod near the door, but forgot to put it in the car so I didn’t have it with me.  Luckily I keep the GorillaPod in the backpack and was able to stick it on a railing to get this shot.  It was about 10 at night, so there weren’t many people out but there were stars.  Sony NEX-5N, SEL16mm, 46 seconds, f/8.0, ISO 100
